France 2030 – SPIN Research Program Holds Annual Meeting in Nancy

Published by Daniel Lacour on

On September 23rd and 24th, nearly 130 members of the SPIN Research Program  (PEPR-SPIN) community gathered at the Centre Prouvé in Nancy to discuss progress in various projects. The event featured keynote addresses by Mathieu Klein, Mayor of Nancy and President of Grand Nancy, Véronique Perdereau, Delegate Rector for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation in the Grand-Est Region, and Edwige Helmer-Laurent, Regional Delegate for CNRS Centre-East, all highlighting the vital role of spintronics research in developing a more sustainable, efficient, and agile digital future.

The meeting opened with a presentation by program co-directors Lucian Prejbeanu and Vincent Cros, who reflected on the milestones achieved in the first year of the PEPR SPIN. Throughout the day, targeted project presentations and international expert talks enriched the discussions. Representatives from partner PEPR programs and industry leaders contributed to roundtable discussions, addressing the challenges of translating lab research into industrial-scale applications in spintronics.

The second day emphasized contributions from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, offering them a platform to present their work through posters and short presentations. The event concluded with thematic workshops led by journalist Nathalie Milion, focusing on key areas such as education, international collaborations, open science, and science communication.

The SPIN-Team organized this event and the lab tours at the Jean Lamour Institute, showcasing advanced research facilities, including the unique Daum Tube for nanomaterial studies.
