Abstract: Magnetism is omnipresent in our lives: compasses, electric motors, transformers, magnetic storage for the “cloud”… Understanding how the magnetization of a magnet behaves in the face of external magnetic forces is therefore crucial. The field of ultra-fast spin electronics focuses on the dynamics of magnetic systems on the timescales of picoseconds and femtoseconds, attempting to manipulate them using various levers such as light, heat, or electric currents.
